Projects of three nanosatellites, which were created by Russian universities, were approved
It became known that the projects of the first three nanosatellites, created in Russian universities, were approved. These devices should become part of the space constellation, which is created by joint efforts of a consortium of universities and scientific organizations. The SamSat-ION scientific and educational nanosatellite, developed at Samara University, is planned to be used to conduct tomography of the upper ionosphere, study wave processes and study plasma. It will be launched into a solar synchronous orbit with an altitude of about 550 km. According to calculations, the service life of the device in such an orbit is 19 years.
The other two satellites were developed by the Astronomicon laboratory and the St. Petersburg Polytechnic University. They will use a single satellite platform. The apparatus of the Polytechnic University “Polytechnic-ION” will be equipped with a receiver for an automatic identification system for monitoring sea vessels. The apparatus of the “Astronomicon” laboratory, named “HeckStek”, will be equipped with equipment for testing the radiation resistance of various element base. All three spacecraft will study plasma along their flight path and carry out tomography of the ionosphere.
